Since unanimously passing a motion at vestry in February 2024 to formally declare ourselves as an LGBTQ2S+ Affirming Church (a church that affirms that LGBTQ2S+ people are equally loved by God just as they are), we are now listed as such on the Proud Anglicans website and clearly identify ourselves as an Affirming Church on our own website, Facebook page, newsletter, and worship service bulletin. The advisory board has formed an Affirming Church subcommittee, which is currently working towards a number of initiatives to increase our visibility in the community as an Affirming Church. Please continue to show your support by participating in these upcoming initiatives:
1. Rainbow Ribbon Pins – Recently some of our parishioners were busy assembling rainbow pins using rainbow ribbon. These pins are available at the back of the church as a sign of welcome and may be worn by anyone who wishes to show support for the LGBTQ2S+ community during Pride Month (June) and beyond! Wearing a rainbow pin is an easy way to get involved in this aspect of Trinity’s ministry.
2. York Pride – Friday and Saturday, June 14 and 15 (Parade at 3PM Sat), downtown Newmarket. Along with All Saints Anglican Church, King City, we will be represented at York Pride this year by sitting at a table and walking in the parade! This is an important event for sharing the message that we are an affirming church right here in Bradford, and folks will be welcomed just as they are. We are especially in need of volunteers to walk with us in the parade! The more the merrier! York Pride is such a joyful event and you will be glad you came! We will meet up at 2:30 pm on Saturday June 15th near the corner of Ontario St. and Main St. Look for the Rev. Dana Dickson as she’ll be marshalling the group this year! If you are planning to come you can let Rev. Dana know or just show up.
