“Drop Your Drawers” for Inn From The Cold

As we look to the fall now, one project that we have been involved with for the last two years is the Inn from the Cold, “Drop your Drawers,” when we collect new underwear, socks and long underwear for the patrons of the shelter. Knowing that people are at church less frequently these days, we are extending the campaign from the beginning of October to middle of November when the shelter opens for overnight guests. New underwear, socks and long underwear can be dropped off at Rev. Dana’s drop-in office, on Wednesday when the office is open (9:30 a.m. to noon) and Sunday mornings, or leave a message at the office to arrange pickup.

What is Inn from the Cold and what do they do?

Inn from the Cold is located at 510 Penrose St in Newmarket and provides emergency shelter and support services for the homeless and those at risk of homelessness in Newmarket and the surrounding areas. They offer a broad range of helpful services such as the Seasonal Shelter and the Drop In, Getting Ahead and Stability Now Housing programs. These services are designed to assist with finding housing, employment, mental health and addiction support and other necessities such as hot meals, clothing, laundry, internet, voicemail, showers and personal care items.

How can you support those in need who depend on these services?

Donate items: Some of the items always needed are phone charger (any model), hygiene products, men’s or women’s (clean, not ripped and in good condition) Winter Coats, Gloves, New Underwear, Sweatpants, Hooded Sweatshirts, Sleeping Pants and Running Shoes. For a full list of needed items  We can arrange drop-off if needed.
